Kore Timoun, also known as the Children Nutritional Program, is a non-profit whose mission is to help raise a healthy generation of Haitian children, who can, in turn, raise Haiti from poverty. They work closely with communities in Haiti to educate mothers on malnutrition and empower them to cultivate Haitian-led solutions to poverty.
I was extremely excited to be able to use my abilities to share something powerful and important with the world. What began as a journey to a place with an unfamiliar culture, language, and level of poverty, quickly turned into one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I learned so many lessons on this trip that went above and beyond filmmaking and marketing. My favorite part of the trip was the joy-filled smiles of all the individuals I met. I remember thinking to myself, it is amazing how joyful they are, even amidst their situation. This was a beautiful reminder that happiness comes from within, not from without. Over the next week, I traveled around Haiti to multiple villages and filmed the amazing work of Kore Timoun and their volunteers. I was moved by the love these people had for their work and the people they worked with. Each moment made me ever so grateful for the life I lived back home in the States.
